PNP: Comprehensive security plan in place for Marcos’ 5th Sona

MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine National Police (PNP) said its comprehensive security plan

is already in place for President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s fifth State of the Nation Address (Sona).

“Initially, we are deploying more than 20,000 personnel for the Sona. This includes our

augmentation from other agencies like the AFP (Armed Forces of the Philippines, the Coast Guard,” PNP public information chief Col. Allen Rae Co told reporters in Camp Crame on Friday.

“Our comprehensive security plan is already in place,” he noted.

The national police force, however, has yet to detail exactly how many police officers will be deployed to specific locations during the president’s annual address.

The Sona is held annually every fourth Monday of July and serves as the president’s report on the country’s socioeconomic conditions. /mrFile photo of the House plenary where the annual State of the Nation Address of the president is held. INQUIRER file photo / Marianne Bermudez
