In a situation report, PCG Substation San Fernando reported the rescue of five individuals aboard motorized banca MBCA Tropical Paradise in the waters of Barangay San Fernando in El Nido, Palawan, on Thursday.

According to an initial report by PCG Northern Palawan, the banca—used for tourism activities—was conducting a sea trial when it encountered a sudden downpour of rain and strong winds, causing it to capsize.

All five individuals aboard the banca were crew members and were found in good condition.

To date, the PCG and the Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA) are enforcing a "no-sail policy" to ensure the safety of mariners and sea passengers.

On the other hand, the PCG has rescued 20 residents from floods in Sitio Haaubon in Barangay San Isidro and one family in Barangay Libertad in Ormoc City on Friday.

Meanwhile, PCG Sub-Station Sta. Cruz has evacuated 24 families, comprising 101 individuals, from the coastal areas of Barangay Lapu-Lapu in Sta. Cruz, Marinduque.

PCG Station Marinduque has placed its deployable response team on standby to ensure immediate deployment for emergencies caused by Opong.

In Oriental Mindoro, the PCG Sub-Station Mamburao mounted a pre-emptive evacuation in Sitio Aroma, Barangay Tayamaan in Mamburao.

A total of nine individuals—including one child, an infant, and a pregnant woman—were taken to the nearby PAGCOR Multipurpose Evacuation Center for shelter and assistance.

The PCG Mobile Post – Naujan has also conducted pre-emptive evacuation in Barangay Estrella in Naujan, Oriental Mindoro, in response to Opong.

Four families composed of 141 residents were taken to a nearby evacuation center.

In Quezon province, the PCG conducted the forced evacuation of three families using a rescue truck of the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO).

All deployable response groups in the province remain on standby to ensure the safety of the residents.

Earlier, Acting Transportation Secretary Giovanni Lopez said around 5,600 PCG personnel have been dispatched across the country to assist in rescue and evacuation efforts. In addition to personnel, the PCG has also prepared several ships, 166 rescue boats, and 122 land vehicles to assist in emergency activities.
