Palace to gov’t workers: Shun noise, uplift Filipinos’ lives
MANILA – Malacañang on Friday called on all public servants to stay focused on serving
Filipinos amid political noise.
During the 2025 Budget Execution Forum at the Philippine International Convention Center in Pasay City, Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin stressed the need to “break down silos and foster genuine collaboration” across all government levels.
He said government agencies must continue to apply a “whole-of-government” approach to attain the Marcos administration’s agenda for prosperity.
“Our mission today remains crystal clear: to serve the Filipino people with unwavering integrity, relentless dedication, and genuine compassion,” Bersamin told his fellow government workers.
“Let us forge ahead, undeterred by the noise, focused on uplifting the lives of our people to the best of our abilities,” he added.
Bersamin also emphasized the importance of pursuing the values of transparency, accountability, and public participation to advance open governance.
He said digital transformation, aligned with the government’s development priorities, would make the country “future-proof.”
“Let us hold ourselves to the highest standards of good governance,” he said. “As we begin a new year, let us take the opportunity to renew our commitment to build the Bagong Pilipinas (New Philippines) we all envision.”
The forum, organized by the Department of Budget and Management (DBM), seeks to provide an avenue to discuss this year’s budget execution.
On Jan. 20, the DBM issued National Budget Circular 595, outlining the framework for the implementation of the national budget under Republic Act (RA) 12116 or the 2025 General Appropriations Act (GAA), along with the continuing appropriations under RA 11975 or 2024 GAA and automatic appropriations.
RA 12116, signed by President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. on Dec. 30, 2024, contains the PHP6.326 trillion national budget for 2025.
Bersamin said the 2025 national budget represents not just numbers on paper but the government’s connected vision for a “prosperous” Philippines. (PNA)
