Palace: No more ‘political colors’ after 2025 elections for Marcos
MANILA, Philippines — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. no longer distinguishes “political colors” among winning candidates now that the 2025 elections are over, as he believes that they should all come together for a common goal, a Palace official said Friday.
Presidential Communications Office Usec. Claire Castro made the pronouncement when asked how many of the senatorial candidates endorsed by Marcos, called the Alyansa, would make it in the Magic 12, to
“But the elections are over, and the people have spoken. In the eyes of the president, there is no more Alyansa, no PDP, no political colors—everyone who was elected should come together and cooperate,” Castro said in Filipino at a Palace press briefing.
“This is for the people, after all. Hopefully, it won’t always be about politics because we won’t be able to act or move forward if all we do is politicize and sow intrigue within the government,” he added.
Asked how the election of only six Alyansa senators would affect Marcos’ legislative agenda, Castro said the president would prefer his programs to be supported, but would not necessarily oppose their suggestions.
“The President will not stand in the way of their suggestions, even if these do not align with his programs. If there is a valid reason behind them, the president will listen,” she said.
“But hopefully, whatever the president and the administration are requesting for the benefit of the people will not be obstructed just because of politics,” she added.
Among the Alyansa senatorial candidates who made it into the Magic 12 were former Senators Panfilo Lacson, Tito Sotto, Pia Cayetano, Lito Lapid, Erwin Tulfo, and Camille Villar./mcm
